Cowslip
When winter's work is done the Cowslip paints the spring with golden yellow. Across meadows and hedgerows they're known as the 'Keys to Heaven'. It was believed that St. Peter dropped the keys to earth from heaven and where they lay Cowslip would grow.
A valuable early source of nectar for bees and insects they were traditionally used on May Day for celebrations such as weddings.
